Dr. Jesse Hicks, Optometrist

Dr. Jesse Hicks was born in St Petersburg, Florida and grew up in Dunedin, Florida.  Dr. Hicks was an active boy scout while growing up and achieved Eagle Scout status at 17 years old.  He had high hopes of becoming an optometrist early in life.  By the time he was 8, he was already telling friends, family and teachers that he was destined to be an eye doctor.  After graduating from Dunedin High School in 1995, Dr. Hicks attended the St. Petersburg Junior College where he earned his Associate in Arts degree with Honors. He then attended the University of South Florida where he was inducted into the Gold Key Honor Society and the College of Arts and Sciences Honor Society. He earned his Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Natural Sciences in 2000.  Later that same year, Dr. Hicks was accepted to the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, where he completed his Doctor of Optometry in 2004.  Dr. Hicks is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Florida Optometric Association and the Hillsborough Society of Optometrists.

Annie Hicks, Practice Manager

Annie was born in West Palm Beach, Florida and grew up in Port Charlotte, Florida.  Annie was an All-American cheerleader in high school and was a participant in the 1999 Pro-Bowl half-time show.  She left for Florida State University a month after graduating high school where she received her Associate of Arts degree.  She then moved to Tampa in order to attend The University of South Florida where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Gerontology in 2007.  Once a college graduate, Dr. Hicks recruited her from the restaurant industry in order to run his business.

Jessica Barrera, Optometric Assistant

Jessica was born in Tampa, FL and grew up here in Zephyrhills.  After graduating high school in Apoka, FL, she earned her Associate of Arts Degree from Southern Adventist University in Chattanooga, TN.  She has since moved home to Zephyrhlls awaiting the arrival of her first child this spring! 

Marcie Carr, Optometric Assistant

Born July 31, 1989 at Tampa General Hospital, she is also a native Floridian.  She has lived inDade City, FL all her life with her sisters and grandparents.  She attended Pasco Elementary, Pasco Middle and Pasco High Schools.  After high school, she moved to Winter Haven, FL with her Aunt Linda to attend cosmetology school.  She now styles hair at the Color Room Hair salon in Zephyrhills as well as working with us here at Hicks Vision Care.

Dr. Luc Kanicky, Associate Optometrist

Dr. Luc Kanicky has been a licensed optometrist since 2003 when he graduated with honors from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  He was an active member of the Sigma Kappa Honor Society.  He received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida in 1999, also graduating with honors.  Dr. Kanick has help licenses in North Carolina, Soutn Carolina and Florida.  He currently lives in Land O Lakes with wife, Jee ME and their two dogs, Charlie and Arthur.  He enjoys fishing, hunting and is an avid fan of the Bucs and Rays.

Dr. Mark Humphries, Associate Optometrist

Dr. Mark Humphries, Jr.  is a native of Tampa, FL.  He graduated from University of South Floruda the continued his education at The Southern College of Optometry.  He has been in private practice in Hillsborough and Pasco Counties for 35 years.  He has directly worked with several opthalmologists in the area.  Dr. Humphries is  married and has two sons.
